AUCTIONEER FINED
Open for Display of Furs Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, September 5. Reserved decision was delivered by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., to-day in an interesting case which was heard recently, in which the Empire Auctioneering Company was charged with failing to close a shop at six o'clock as required by the Act. The circumstances were that the defendant company had leased a shop for the purpose of a sale of furs, and kept the shop open after hours for inspection of furs. In his reserved decision, the magistrate held that defendants, in renting the shop and displaying goods, had acted as agents for the owner. A penalty of £2 and costs was imposed.
