“CINDERELLA” BALL

Mayor’s Relief Fund Effort What promises to be one of the most outstanding entertainments of the year will take place in the Town Hall on Thursday, when the “Cinderella” Ball, in aid of the Mayor’s Relief Fund, will be held. The sale of tickets for this ball has been attended with such success that they have nearly all been sold. Those desiring to be present should buy their tickets without further delay, as only one thousand will be issued. The following raffles have been authorised by the Minister of Internal Affairs: (a) The visitors’ books for the “Cinderella” Ball, beautifully bound in red leather, containing the signatures of every guest, including Cinderella and Prince Charming; (b) Cinderella’s Coach. This is an excellent example of the coachbnilder’s craft, about the size of a baby car, and of appropriate design. Tickets can be obtained almost everywhere. On Friday, the night after the “Cinderella” Ball, to meet the demand of a large section of the public, a Joy Jazz Night will be held, with dancing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The music will be by Dalton’s Orchestra. A buffet supper will be provided at slight extra cost. Trams and buses to all suburbs will be run after the dance. A competition, particulars of which will be announced later, will be held. On Saturday afternoon a. special children's revue of dancing, singing, and elocution will be staged entirely by children. By courtesy of the Wellington Competitions Society, many of the prizewinners in the Competitions festival will appear. The performance will be staged in the festival hall of the mediaeval castle —the original setting for the “Cinderella” Ball. Cinderella and Prince Charming will be presented in a spectacular ballet. Ou Saturday night the “Cinderella” Revue will be staged. This will feature all the ballets and specialty items performed between dances on the night of the “Cinderella” Ball, and concert items will be provided by prize-winners at the Competitions festival.
