Family Escapes by Window By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, September 5. Early on Sunday morning a fire destroyed a two-storied seven-roomed shop dwelling at Woodhaugh, Dunedin. Mr. F. Drake, the owner and occupier, found the fire fiercely burning in the kitchen. He and his family found it Impossible to escape by the stairs, and with difficulty Mr. Drake lowered the family from a top window. He himself then dropped safely. Almost as soon as the brigade engaged the fire, high tension wires, carrying current from the converter station, fell across the building. A terrific explosion followed, and the hot water circulator was blown, through the roof.
