OBITUARY
Mr. W. T. Wynyard Mr. W. T. Wynyard, a well-known figure in sporting and business circles, died in Auckland on Sunday afternoon. The late Mr. Wynyard was the second son of Mr. and Mrs J. G. Wynyard. of Devonport, and was a nephew of the late Colonel Wynyard, who acted in the capacity of Governor of New Zealand. Mr. Wynyard served in the Boer War in 1900. lie came of a military family. His grandfather was a captain in the famous 58th Regiment. Born at Devonport nearly 50 years ago, Mr. Wynyard was in his playing days a well-known footballer In 1907-8 he was a member of the New Zealand League team that toured England He also visited Australia and South Africa. He took an active interest in the Devonport Rowing Chib. For 34 years Mr. Wynyard was connected with the firm of P. .Hayman and Sons, Ltd. He leaves his wife and a young family of four daughters and two sons Mr. G. Thomas The death occurred in Palmerston North ou Tuesday, after a long illness of Mr. George Thomas, builder, of Cuba Street, at the age of 67 years. The late Mr. Thomas, who came co Palmerston North from Christchurch four or five years ago, leaves a grownup family.
