Paremata Bridge
Sir, —There have been many suggestions and much comment on the access to Plimmerton. Quarrelling farmers and political partisans, however, might delay, the matter sufficiently to enjoy many years of regrets of what might have been. There are not a few who can see a sound investment for private enterprise if Plimmerton were reached via the western shore of the southern arm ot Porirua harbour. An inspection of a graph or map of the locality discloses very clearly what may happen. Wherc the Porirua and Titahi Bay roads junction a road also branches off along the western bank of the Porirua harbour for a considerable distance. This road only needs to be continued as far as the narrow entrance or whale-passage. A. bridge thrown across this short expanse of water and a road along the beach to link up with the Plimmerton road avoids those two crossings of the railway line at Porirua and Plimmerton. The advantages of this route are more numerous than space will permit Private enterprise recognises that there is money in it Those quarrelling factions would be wise to reconsider their gains and losses for it certainly is in their interests to close the ranks and get in first. An improved route, to Plimmerton is not far distant. . It is merely a question of which way it is going and under whose control. —I am, etc., WATCH-OUT. Wellington, August 17.
