AGED MAN KILLED
Wife Seriously Injured STRUCK BY MOTOR Accident at Auckland By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, August 18. Fatal injuries were received by H. L. Dartnail, of Christchurch, and his wife was very seriously injured, when they were struck by a motor-vehicle at the corner of Balmoral and Mount Eden roads shortly after seven o’clock this evening. Mr. Dartnell received severe head injuries, and was dead upon arrival at the hospital, and Mrs. Dartnail received head and Internal injuries, fractured ribs, and a fracture of the’left leg. Her condition is very serious. Mr. and Mrs. Dartnall, who are both elderly, were in Auckland on a visit to Mr. Dartnail’s sister, Mrs. J. Renton, of Balmoral Road. Deceased was a former well-known business man at Springston, Canterbury. He was aged about 80, his wife’s age being over 70.
