Tee Box Blown 200 Yards BIG TREES UPROOTED Dominion Special Service. Hamilton, August 18. A cyclonic disturbance struck St. Andrews golf links, Te Rapa, at 7.20 a.m. yesterday, and did. considerable damage. The visitation took the form of a whirlwind, which was heralded by a thunderstorm and a heavy downpour of rain. Several trees, including a fine acacia, were uprooted near the third green, teeboxes were overturned, and trestles were broken. Recently-Placed turfing was lifted and carried some distance, while one tee j box was blown a distance of 200 yards. A grass-cutting machine received the violence of the gale, and was damaged, and some sheet iron was ripped off an implement shed. The storm did not cross the Waikato River, and no damage other than that which occurred on the links is reported.
