Comrades’ Association IRELAND’S THIRD ARMY Attitude of Government ‘NO DICTATION FROM THEM’ (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Rec. August 15, 7 p.m.) London, August 15. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Dublin correspondent says that large numbers of recruits are being enrolled in the new volunteer force which Is being raised by the Irish Free State Anny Comrades’ Association, and which is sure to gain many adherents. The organisers of the Comrades’ 'Association are deluged with correspondence from prospective recruits throughout Ireland. The Minister of Defence, Mr. F. Aiken, speaking at West Meath, declared that the Volunteers would be playing England’s game if they started trouble in Ireland. The Government was sufficiently strong to maintain law and order and did not need the help of any group who might aspire to be the saviours of the country. “We will not accept dictation from them, as we refused British dictation,” he said. „“We are proceeding calmly and dispassionately to our goal of an Independent Republic and will not hasten nor slacken at the behest of a small section.” He added that the Government would shortly ask the people to: deal with the Senate to prevent it any longer barring the road to independence and prosperity- ' , As the result of the campaign to boycott British goods posters inscribed '“Boycott British goods" are posted on the walls and lamp posts. Other inscriptions are: “No Surrender,” “Damn Your Concessions, England.” The “Dally Mail’s” Dublin correspondent says that financial uncertainty, political uneasiness, commercial stagnation, and agricultural depression sum up the situation In the Free State, from which the flight of capital has already begun as the result of Mr, dp Valera’s policy.
