Il Marchese Marconi’s latest triumph on board his yacht Electra, which is at Sardinia, is maintaining communication with Rome, 165 miles distant, by means of ultra-short, 57 centimetre, waves. Hitherto such transmission has been possiblle over only ten miles. ~ The power required is only that needful for the headlights of a motorear, and the apparatus is as handy as
a portable typewriter, and as easily concealed, so its mlUtary value is obvious, especially as the directional beam transmission is. absolutely secret. The Italian Academy has telegraphed to II Marchese Marconi extolling his miraculously inexhaustible genius.
