Work of Past Month The Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children held its monthly meeting recently at IS Kent Terrace. 'Mrs. Tythe-Brown was in the chair, and there were present also Mesdames Nees, Paterson, Good, Gray, Jowitt, Leach, Bullock, Hassall, Larsen, Aiken, . Robertson, Evatt, White, McEldowney, Grosser, G. Johnson, L. H. Wood, Nicol, Hodson, Miller, Ralph, B. B. Wood, Brlngans, Cooke, Binet-Brown, Gordon, Thomas, Rowe, Lady Armstrong and Miss Barnett. The Plunket nurse reported: Total number of visits to homes, 1871; visits to headquarters, adults 870, babies 465, older children 137. The outstanding feature of the month’s work was the number of visits paid to expectant mothers and others In conjunction with the mayoral relief scheme. The nurses were very grateful for various gifts of clothing, woollen garments, bread, etc., from many supporters, which helped them to relieve many necessitous cases through a time of stress. The matron of the Karitane Hospital thanked donors of various gifts. She reported admitting eight mothers and 17 babies for the month, and discharged eight mothers and 18 babies. All babies were making good progress. Visitors for the month totalled 380.
