TESTED TIPS

(By Vera Wise.) Copyright. If you have started cleaning, here is a helpful idea for washing the varnished bathroom walls. About half an hour before beginning the work, fill the bath with hot water, and leave the door and window shut. Then wash, down the walls in the ordinary way with soapy water. The steaming will have loosened the dirt and facilitates cleaning very considerably. Before polishing furniture, wash it with a cloth moistened with vinegar and water. After drying it thoroughly, polish it in the usual way. This will remove all dirt and the wood will polish much better as a result. A good home-made furniture cream is made as follows: —Melt 4 ounces bees wax in 1J teacups of water. Add i-pint of turpentine (removing the pan from the fire first, as this is inflammable), and 1 teaspoonful ammonia. Stir well until cool.
