CURRENCY PROBLEMS
Address to Business Women “Very many economists are coming to the conclusion that the trade cycle is primarily a monetary problem,” said Mr. J. S. Carmichael in an address on “Currency” to the Business and Professional Women’s Round Table at the Y.W.C.A. last evening. He outlined the banking and currency systems, and voiced the opinion that until the present currency system was completely overthrown, depressions could not be avoided, and it was impossible to stabilise commodity prices. The trouble was that social and economic research had lagged behind the march of science and invention.
