BRIGHT SPOTS IN THE NEWS
The Winnipeg grain market surged upward again on Wednesday, wheat futures gaining another 1J cents on Tuesday’s closing prices.
Unanimity has been reached by the Dominions’ representatives at Ottawa as to the proposals to be made to Great Britain regarding preferences and quotas on meat, butter, and fruit.
Unexpectedly rapid progress is being made by the Dominion industry sub-committees of the Imperial Conference, and there is every indication that the Conference will successfully conclude earlier than the most optimistic predicted.
The success attending the British War Loan conversion operation has had a stimulating effect on all securities. Applications for conversion are still flooding in.

“I think we are a step nearer a solution of our difficulties,” said the Prime Minister, Rt. lion. G. W. Forbes, in an interview on the economic outlook yesterday. He said he had faith that a real start toward recovery would be made at Ottawa, and if this were achieved he considered a definite lead would have been given to the world generally.
There was a good demand for all fades at the third rabbitskin sale of the season at Wellington yesterday, prices being firmen.
