Irving, of Bristol, England, a son of Dr. Irving, of Christchurch, returned to New Zealand by the Ruahine yesterday on a brief holiday trip. Dr. S. R. Cattell has been appointed senior physician on the honorary staff of the Wellington Hospital for the ensuing two years. Dr. T. S. Norris has resigned Ids position as senior house surgeon at the Wellington Public Hospital. The board yesterday placed on record its appreciation of the services rendered by Dr. Norris.

Colonel A. Cowles has been appointed to represent the Returned Soldiers’ Association on the War Relief Association in place of Lieut.-Colonel H. E. Avery, resigned. At yesterday’s meeting of the association, Colonel Cowles was appointed a member of the executive, finance, applications, and emergency committees.

Count Baillet Latour, president of the International Olympic Council, and a Belgian nobleman, will arrive in Auckland about the middle of September, according to advice received by the New Zealand Olympic Association. The Government will extend to him the usual courtesies to distinguished visitors.
