Largely-Attended Funeral

St. Mark’s Church was the scene of a memorial service to the late Mr. Walter L. .Meek on Wednesday. It was attended by a large number of Wellington’s leading business men and by many who had been associated with Mr. Meek in connection with the affairs of St. Mark’s during the last quarter of a century. The service at the church and graveside, Karori, was conducted by the Ven. Archdeacon Johnson. The chief mourners were Messrs. Ernest Meek (son) ; A. R., and H. S., Meek (brothers), P. Cummins (grandson), Ronald Meek (grandson) and Edward Meek (cousin), and sisters and daughters of deceased. The pall-bearers at the church were members of the staff of Storer, Meek, and Co. Ltd., and at the cemetery, Messrs. P. Cummins, J. D. Willis, A. Willis, R. Meek. A. R. Meek, and E. Pilcher.

Among those present were: Messrs. C. W. Salmon, C. W. Budd, J. Maththews, L. 11. Wood, and G. O. Sutton (representing the U.K. Manufacturers and N.Z. Representatives Association), Messrs. A. H. Miles, 0. W. Chilman, W. J. and H. P. F. Blundell, C. W. Tringham, E. Bull, Alfred Smith, A. T. Markman, W. E. A. Gill, R. E. Bennett, A. Hollis, W. E.' Fussell, C. E. Adams, S. Dix, J. McArthur, S. M. Hobbs, R. A. Wright, M.P., H. Ross, J. Mackay, J. Turnbull, H. Tubbs, C. M. Banks, C. A. Innes, C. Oswin, W. E. Jackson, E. C. Leary, L. T. Watkins, and F. Lqckie. There was a very large number of wreaths.
