After he has fulfilled his Australian Steeplechase engagement, Copey, the New Zealand ’chaser, is to remain tn Melbourne to compete in the steeplechases at the Cup meetings (says a ■ Melbourne writer). I. Tucker, the New Zealand jockey who rides Copey in his races, intends to remain here for some months, and if opportunities warrant it he will settle in Melbourne. Tucker is a skilful horseman, as he displayed when he won on Appledore at Flemington and on Sarecto at Caulfield. Tucker is a horseman of the patient type and rides with great judgment. He should do well here. The army of New Zealanders settled in Melbourne is likely to be added to by the addition of T. R. George, trainer of Landmark, Makeup and Appledore. He has under serious - consideration the idea of bringing a big team of horses to Melbourne and remaining here. If he decides upon that plan he will turn out his three horses here and return to New Zealand to settle his affairs. George is the’leading trainer in the Dominion.
