. Golden Coast at Auckland With Pacific Coast cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, and Australian ports, the O. and O. Line steamer Golden Coast reached Auckland at midday yesterday, and left there again last night for Wellington. She is due here on Saturday morning to discharge the local portion of her cargo to the agency of .Burns, Philp and Co., Ltd. THE CITY OF CANTON. To continue discharge of her cargo from New York and Gulf of Mexico ports, the A. and A. Line steamer City of Canton left Auckland last night for Wellington. She is due here on Saturday morning, and will leave again next Monday for Lyttelton and Australia, to complete discharge. The Federal Company are the local agents. THE MAKURA. The Union Company’s R.M.S. Makura, from Sydney and Wellington, is due at , San Francisco to-morrow morning. She is scheduled to leave there again next Wednesday for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington, and Sydney, and is due here on August 22. THE CANADIAN CRUISER. Canadian National Steamships advise that the Canadian Cruiser was to have left Montreal on Tuesday, via Gulf of Mexico ports, for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australia. She is due at Auckland about September 10. OTIRA LEAVES BALBOA. Cabled advice has been received by the Shaw, Savill Company that the Otira, en route from London to Suva, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, Bluff, and Napier, cleared Balboa last Monday. She fe due at Suva on August 13, and at Lyttelton on August 20. KARTIGI AT SYDNEY. Cabled advice has been received by the Union Company that the Kartigi, from Greymouth, reached Sydney yesterday morning. She is to leave there to-day for Newcastle, and returns to Sydney to complete loading for Napier, Wellington, and Miramar. She is expected to clear Sydney on Saturday. PORT BRISBANE LOADING. To commence her homeward loading, the C. and D. Line steamer Port Brisbane reached Auckland on Tuesday morning from Launceston. She was to have' left there again last night for Napier, Gisborne, and Wellington, to complete. The Port Brisbane is due here on August 8, and is scheduled to clear this port finally on August 10 for London, via Cape Horn. SULPHUR FROM GALVESTON. The Bank Line motor-ship Comlicbank, 5149 tons, has been chartered to load sulphur at Galveston for New Zealand and Australian ports. PHOSPHATES FROM OCEAN ISLAND. Advice has been received that the Bank Line motor-ship Myrtlebank left Ocean Island on July 23 with 8100 tons of phosphates for discharge at Auckland, where she is due about August 2.

THE TANKER NUCULA. After supplying oil fuel to H.M.S. Dunedin at Bora Bora, the Admiralty oil tanker Nucula resumed her voyage to Auckland last Friday. The vessel is en route from San Pedro and is due at Auckland next Monday. . c • ALEXANDER TO SLIP. The Anchor Company’s motor-ship Alexander is due at Wellington this morning from Motueka and will go on the Patent Slip for cleaning and painting. WAINUI IN PORT. To complete. discharge of her Melbourne cargo, the Union Company’s Wainui is due at Wellington this morning from Lyttelton, and will berth at the King’s Wharf. She is to go on the Patent Slip for cleaning and painting, and will leave here again on Saturday for Melbourne via-Bluff. ■ • .> RUAHINE DUE THIS MORNING. The New Shipping Company’s liner Ruahine,)'enTroute from London to Wellington, via the Panama Canal, has reported by wireless that she expects to’ arrive in the stream at 8 o’clock this morning. She will berth about 9 o’clock at the Pipitea Wharf to land her passengers and mails and to commence discharge of her London cargo. The Ruahine is to leave here again to-morrow for Port Chahsers, Lyttelton, and New Plymouth to complete discharge. NIAGARA’S CABIN CLASS. While the Union Company’s liner Niagara was at Sydney recently alterations were made in the furnishing of the dining saloon and ladies’ lounge in the cabin class. The changes in the saloon included the removal of nine long tables, which have been replaced by 29 smaller ones, enabling passengers in parties to have their own tables. There are now nine tables, each with seating accommodation for six people; nine for two people each, and 11 to seat four people each. In the centre of the saloon there are two tables each with accommodation for 10 passengers. In the ladies’ lounge the long settees around the walls have been removed and have been replaced by five chesterfields and 10 lounge chairs.'The armchairs in the lounge have been reupholstered. NOTICES TO MARINERS. The Marine Department advises the intended alteration in North Channel leading lights in Bluff harbour, the alterations to date from August 8. The position is: No. 1 red beacon, 167 deg., cables (approx.) from Tewaewae Point, in lat. 46deg. 36min. S., long. 168 deg. 22min. E. (approx.). The flashing white light at present exhibited, will .be altered to flashing green every three seconds, thus: Flash o.3sec., eclipse 2.7 sec. The second position is the Channel Rocks beacon, 223 deg. 335 yards (approx.) from Tewaawae Point. The period of the light will be altered from three seconds to every one and a half seconds, thus: Flash o.ssec., eclipse Isec. The Marine Department advises that on August 1, leading lights will he established in Tolaga Bay as follows: —(a) A fixed red light, visible two miles, will be ,exhibited at an elevation of 23ft. from the flagpole at the seaward end of the jetty, (b) A fixed white light, visible five miles, will be exhibited at an elevation of 40ft. from a flagstaff which has been erected in a position 233 deg. 833 yards from (a). The lights will be electric, and when in line bearing 233 deg. will provide a clear lead to the jetty. The position is lat. 38deg. 23min. S., long. 178 deg. 19min. E., approx.
