Meeting of Committee PAST MONTH’S ACTIVITIES At a meeting of the Unemployed Women’s Committee, over which the Mayoress, Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop, presided yesterday afternoon, letters wore received from the Unemployment Board containing instructions to women’s committees dealing with unemployment. The board also forwarded a communication from the secretary of the Women’s Institutes containing an offer to co-operate. This was accepted with thanks. Mrs. Morley wrote offerin, the “Australian Women’s Mirror” for the rooms. , The report of the executive stated that in the beginning of June the bureau was moved to new rooms in the old Technical College building, which were kindly lent by the Education Board. A kitchen was opened and the workroom was also moved.. The Mayoress had interviewed the deputychairman of the Unemployment Board, who had given permission to fit up the rooms, promising a grant for that purpose. Much help was received from the Mayor’s committee in securing workmen and an overseer, and from a number of firms which gave material toward the rooms.
