Knocked Down by Cars DEATH FROM INJURIES Wellington Woman’s Fate . Early on Saturday morning the death occurred at Wellington Hospital of Mrs. Annie Peterson, aged 45, who was knocked down by a motor-car in Jervois Quay on Wednesday.. Mrs. Peterson was employed at the Government Buildings as a charwoman and was on her way to work when the accident occurred. She was admitted to the hospital suffering from severe head injuries and concussion. The funeral took place yesterday. MAN FATALLY INJURED Motor-driver Arrested Bt Telezrauh—Press Association Auckland, June 26.. Fatal injuries were received by John Mclntyre, aged 55, of Dominion Road, when, he was knocked down by a motorcar in Dominion Road shortly before 11 o’clock last evening. A constable heard a shout and saw a man lying near the tram lines. He was admitted to the hospital with injuries to his head and a fractured jaw. He died this afternoon. The police subsequently arrested the driver of the car on a charge of being intoxicated in charge of a motor-car. He was admitted to bail in £5O. Mclntyre arrived in Auckland only a few months ago. He was married and had one child aged 11 years. He was a labourer. COLLISION WITH BRIDGE Early' Morning Fatality By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, June 25. Joseph Prendeville, a labourer, aged 32, of Waikari, was killed in a motor accident on the main Waikari-Hawar-den Road early this morning. He was 'driving a car in which there were four other passengers, when he collided with the hand railing of a small bridge over the Waikari creek. Part of the bridge construction was pierced by the front of the car and Prendeville was killed instantly, receiving extensive injuries to the chest. The other passengers were not injured. PEDESTRIAN IN HOSPITAL Accident Near Palmerston Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, June 25. As a result of being knocked down by a motor-car at Cheltenham yesterday, Mr. James Stewart was taken to the Palmerston North Hospital by the. Free Ambulance, suffering from a compound fracture of the right ankle and severe lacerations of the face and head. Mr. Stewart was on the roadway near the Cheltenham school when he was struck by the car. which, after passing him, skidded and overturned. None of its occupants was injured. The hospital authorities reported to-day that Mr. Stewart’s condition was unchanged.
