Successful Revolution
KING GIVES WAY Constitutional System Ceded By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. (Rec. June 26, 7.80 p.m.) London, June 25 A dramatic telephone message to the Berlin newspaper “Vossicb Zeltung” from the German airwoman Marga von Etzdorf, at present at Bangkok, reports that a revolution broke out in Slam during the night The Princes and Ministers have been imprisoned in the Palace as hostages. Their Majesties are absent at their seaside home. Rebellious sailors and soldiers are thronging the streets of Bangkok and tanks and machine-guns are everywhere. A later message from Singapore confirms the reports that the revolution was completely successful. The People’s Party demanded a constitutional monarchy, failing which a suitable Prince be appointed King. The King has replied accepting all the conditions. Complete order now prevails. A fuller reply by the King states that he agrees to the conditions in order to avoid bloodshed. He long has had a constitutional system in mind, as he is a frail man unable to carry the burden any longer.
