Wellington South Society FAIRLY SUCCESSFUL YEAR “Considering the prevailing conditions, the year has been a fairly successful one,” states the report presented at the annual meeting of the Wellington South Horticultural Society. Three shows were held, two at Newtown and one at Island Bay. All were successful from a horticultural point of view, although the autumn show was not a financial success. An innovation had been the cottage garden competition, and the society had again been. successful,in winning the “Rose Joseph, Trophy” for the, most points at the Wellington autumn show, competed for by the suburban Societies. The balance-sheet showed the finances to be sound, the credit balance being £ll 2/5. t At the annual meeting, at which Mr. M. G. Grenside presided, the election of officers resulted: — Patron, his Worship the Mayor; vicepresidents, Mesdames, Clark and Collyer, Rev. Bramwell Scott, Messrs. F. W. Ashley. F. BoOcock, M. G. Grenside, A. AV. McGregor, A. Smart and A. A. Whitelaw; superintendent of juvenile ■ branch, Mrs. Collyer; treasurer, Mr. J. W. Salmon; secretary, Mrs. S. F. McLean; assistant, Mr. E. Smart.
