FREE AMBULANCE

Successful Dance at Island Bay The Masonic Hall, Island Bay, was well filled last evening with dancers eager to support the Wellington Free Ambulance. The dance was arranged by a committee formed at Island Bay and proved a great success. The hall had been delightfully decorated with palest pink cherry blossom and club moss. On the stage mauve wisteria and balloons hung in colour, ful festoons. A bower of tall hollyhocks was arranged at the end of the room, where the Kit-Kat Orchestra played. Supper was served, behind the stage, thu room being hung with blue and scarlet flags, which formed an attractive background for the supper table, laden with appetising dishes. The committee responsible for the arrangements consisted of Mrs. Leadsman, who was wearing a frock of jade green and silver brocade with silver shoes; Mrs. B. Trim, who was in champagne coloured lace and crepe de chine with a pink and gold brocade bridge coat; Mrs. A. Glen, who wore a frock of ivory white faille with a short coat of georgette and lace; also Mrs. A. Loadsman (lion, secretary), Mr. B. Trim (hon. treasurer), and Mr. A. Glen. The hostess for the evening was Mrs. McKeen, who wore a frock of dark wine-coloured embossed chiffon velvet with short flared coat. . Several novelty dances were greatly enjoyed, and in addition Miss Cathell and Mr. Bingley gave an exhibition of the foxtrot and waltz. Among those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Norwood, Mr. and Mrs. Roffe, Miss Roffe, Mrs. Herzog, Mr. and Mrs. Garland, Mr. and Mrs. Legge, Mr. and Mrs. Collie, Mr. and Mrs. Goodall, Miss Founds, Mr. and Mrs. Futter, Mr. and Mrs. .Steer.
