“BABY” RUBBISH CART
Method Tried in Wellington When the Civic Inquiry Commission was sitting in Wellington, the chairman (Mr. H. E. Morton) advocated a means of collecting street refuse in the city on similar lines as is done in Sydney. In that city a small three-wheeled covered cart is used, which is propelled by hand by the refuse collector. Having filled his cart, the collector pushes it along to one of the refuse bins and there empties it. Mr. Morton sent for tlie plans of this cart to Sydney, and from these plans a rtaiilar vehicle has been made, and has been in operation in Wellington this week.
In the opinion of some of the officers concerned the hand-pushed “baby” rubbish cart has no advantage over the present broom and scoop method of collecting such refuse.
