ESPERANTO CLUB
Business at Weekly Meeting The usual weekly meeting of the Wellington Esperanto Club was held bn Tuesday evening, in the Y.M.C.A. Mr. E. C. Jackson presided. The beginners’ class, under Miss Smythson, made excellent progress. The conversation class had some interesting discussions, the blackboard being used to illustrate shades of meaning and illustrations of the translation of English idioms so that a foreigner could grasp the ideas. After class work, Mr. L. E. Dust gave a short, address on “Sculptoring in Sand.” Mr. W. 11. King spoke on the postal and telegraphic section of the Esperanto movement, lie stated that for ten years past this section had produced a magazine printed entirely in Esperanto. Miss C. Smythson spoke on “Electricity as a Nerve-vitaliser.” News was received from Los Angeles that the Esperantists of that city were expecting many visitors to the Olympic Games, and were preparing numerous attractions for them. The president of the club, Mr. Bertram Potts, will be returning to New Zealand in a few weeks’ time.
