PARKING PROBLEM
Hampering Business Houses COMPLAINT TO COUNCIL “I have appealed to you several times regarding cur-parking in frout of my company’s premises, and do not wish to reiterate causes of complaint, but I see that the Automobile Club has been granted tlie privilege of pressing its claim to wreck tlie zone parking proposal before it has been tried,” states a Wellington business man in a letter to the City Council’s chief traffic inspector. “Tlie fact is that the club does not represent the views of all motor-owners, as those who run cars and lorries for trade purposes are surely entitled to come and go to their premises without space being blocked by ears which are allowed to stand idle all day. “The cause of a lot of the congestion lies with those who do not want their cars between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m,,” the letter continues. “Why, then, should such persons take precedence and block the working of scores of business houses? I do not want special parking privileges, but I do want to secure access to our premises, and if tlie Automobile Club is to rule tlie city we will be forced to take action as legally advised.” Tlie letter was referred to the bylaws committee of the City Council, and the writer lias been advised that the matter is under consideration.
