Thistle Club Disbands
ASSOCIATION’S REGRET
Transfers of several well-known players from tbeir old clubs to other clubs were granted last night by the management committee of the Wellington Football Association. The Diamond club is losing Guest, left .back, and Dickinson, centre-forward, who are joining Seatoun; and A. S. McLeod is leaving W.l. M.l. for Waterside. Diamond club has signed on six players from other chibs, including Hopper and Cunningham from Thistle, a senior club which has disbanded. Those present were Messrs, n. B. Hicks (chairman), H. Spolsky, XV. Fraser. C. Ballard, G- Goliin. J. Kean, S. U. Shedden. E. J. Gates, E. Anderson, J. AL Coleman, G. Aers, and the secretary. Mr. B. Mahin. A letter was received from the New Zealand Broadcasting Board advising that a talk over the air on the Soccer game could be arranged for Friday evening, June 3. Application bad been made for a short talk over the air on Friday evenings and offering facilities for broadcasting matches, on Saturday afternoons when the games were of sufficient, attraction. The chairman said what was wanted was a ten minutes’ talk from the station every Friday evening. Members thought that'as the broadcasting was now under the Governigent. similar privileges should be granted to Soccer as to the Rugby cotie. The matter was left in the hands of Mr. J. M. Coleman. First Division Club Out. A letter from Thistle Football Club said that' at a meeting the previous night it was decided to disband the club owing to tbe impossibility of securing players and arranging finance for the season. The decision was only reached after every effort, had been made to carry on. The club could not fulfil the engagement with Hospital on Saturday. The chairman said it was very regrettable that the association should lose such an old club which had been in existence for over 20 years. It was decided to write expressing regret at the course taken and expressing the hone that sonic time later th? club would'Te able to resume its place. The question of replacing Thistle >n the first division will be considered later. . ' Transfers Approved. The following transfers were approved: S. XV. Cross from Petone to Lower (Tutt; H. C.
