Mr. H. Amos presided, and the official representation at tbe meeting included the New Zealand Rugby Union, the New Zealand Boxing Association, the New Zealand Bowling Association, the New Zealand Swimming Association, the New Zealand Football Association, and the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association. The Olympic Games will extend from July 30 until August 15, and it was decided at the meeting that tbe New Zealand team should leave Wellington on June 14, and depart from San Francisco for the return on August 31. Tbe following nominations were received :— N.Z. Amateur Rowing Association: G. C. Cooke, Wellington; S. Cox, Canterbury; 1,. Jackson, Marlborough; J. McDonald, Marlborough; V. Olsson, Auckland; B. Sandos, Marlborough: C. E. Saunders, Marlborough; C. A. Stiles, Canterbury; J. Solomon, Otago; F. 11. Thompson, Canterbury. N.Z. Amateur Athletic Association: S. A. Black, New Plymouth, 200 and 400 metres; A. J. Elliot, Auckland, 100 and 21X1 metres; Miss T. Kencb, Wellington, 100 metres. N.Z. Boxing Association: Bcrl. Lowe, Dunedin, middleweight; Bob Purilie, Auckland. featherweight: Harold Thomas, Wellington, lightweight. The 10 rowing nominations comprise four Marlborough representatives, three from Canterbury, and one each from Auckland, Otago, and Wellington. The coach and coxswain have yet to be named. No nominations were received from the New Zealand Swimming Association. Information regarding the various nominations was placed before the meeting in full detail. The Amateur Athletic Association submitted excellent records regarding its nominations. The three named were stated to be in very good form while C. E. Evans, Taihape (800 metres), and W. Savidau, Auckland (10.000 metres), together with the Canterbury cyclist, F. J. Grose, were under consideration for addition to the nominations, and these will be tried out before the end of this month. It was explained on behalf of the Amateur Rowing Association that much of the criticism which had been levelled against the rowing nominations was quite unjustified. The selectors had carefully considered the claims of every prominent oarsman, and were satisfied that the crew selected would worthily uphold the reputation of New Zealand rowing, it was stated. Several well-known rowers had been unable to obtain tbe necessary leave. Every consideration had been given to the weight of the crew, and the balance, skill, and strength. Members of tbe “eight” would also be able to compete in the “fours,” “pairs,” and double sculls. After the council had discussed the matter from all angles and received replies to questions, a motion was carried unanimously approving that those nominated should comprise the New Zealand team for the Olympiad. A provision was added that the respective governing bodies other than the Rowing Association, should contribute at least £5O per man, the rowing body to contribute at least £25 per man together with a new boat and sculls. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs. H. Amos, H. McCormick. H. Paton, and A. C. Kitto was appointed to report on certain matters, and the adjourned business will be considered at another meeting next Monday. 'The selection of the team manager will be announced shortly.
