1933 Dominion Pairs WELLINGTON PROPOSAL Tim Wellington Bowling Centre Inst night decided to forward a remit to the Now Zealand Bowling Council that the 1933 Dominion pairs tournament he a three bowls event instead of four. Tho motion was introduced by Mr. JI. G. Mayer, who urged the need for shortening i.be tournament in some way. A great deal of time had been taken in the past in getting the pairs games concluded. He had discussed the matter with Professor Maxwell Walker and others in Auckland, and they agreed that the use of three bowls instead of four would eliminate a large proportion of the dead ends, which were more frequent in pairs than in any other game. Kershaw quoted the rule which allowed the pairs tournament to bo made n two. three, or four-bowl event, at the direction of the council, lie had recollections of kicking bowls back from 9 n.m. to 9 p.m.. and it was very tiring. Mr. S. M. Stone seconded the motion, saying the question of how to reduce the tournament was a difficult problem. The North Island wanted the pairs cut out, but the South Island would not agree. Others would like a rink tournament only. For the present he did not think they would get the singles, pairs, or rinks cut out. so they could only try to reduce the amount of’play.
