Captain De Groot Issues Writ for £5OOO BRIDGE INCIDENT By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Rec. April 12, 7.45 p.m.) Sydney, April 12. Captain Francis De Groot, who figured in the ribbon-cutting incident at the opening of the harbour bridge, has issued a writ claiming £5OOO damages against the Chief Secretary, Mr. Gosling, the Police Commissioner, Mr. Childs, and the Metropolitan Police Superintendent, Mr. Mac Kay. The claim arises out of Captain De Groot’s arrest and alleged wrongful detention in the reception house.
