FERRY STEAMER MAORI
Out of Dock Yesterday TO REPLACE THE WAHINE After having been in the floating dock since last Wednesday for overhaul and survey, the Union Company’s ferry steamer Maori came out of dock shortly before 9 o’clock yesterday morning. The Maori cruised round the harbour for a little over two hours adjusting compasses, and berthed at 11.30 a.m. on the opposite side of the Ferry Wharf to the Wahine. Frequenters of the waterfront Ulius saw the unusual spectacle of two Lyttelton ferry steamers berthed at the same wharf. Painting operations on the Maori have not yet been completed, and will be continued at her present berth. This work will be completed before the Maori takes thb Wahine’s running, leaving here to-morrow night for Lyttelton. Provided the weather is favourable, the-new turbo-electric ferry steamer Rangatira will go into dock next Sunday for cleaning and painting. She will come out again on Monday afternoon and will leave here at the usual time that night for Lyttelton.
