WEDDINGS

Bridesmaids in Horizon Blue SIMS—COWPER A wedding of interest took place yesterday at the Wanganui Collegiate School Chapel, when Nancy, younger daughter of Mrs. Cowper and the late Mr. A. E. Cowper, “Lyncairnc.” Tot Street, Wanganui, was married to Leslie Walter, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sims, Lansdown, Walthamstow, England. The chapel had been decorated most beautifully and the Rev. IL W. Austin conducted the ceremony. The tall, slender bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. Harry Cowper. Dannevirke, wore a graceful empire gown of ivory Lyons velvet, made with swathed waistline and cowl front, the skirt being cut on long lines, with pointed godets, which formed a train. The sleeves were wrist length and tightfitting, with points over the hands, and she carried an exquisite sheaf of madonna lilies. Her veil of silk tulle, embroidered with true lovers’ knots, was suspended from an artistic Grecian pearl headdress, finished across the back with a tiny band of orange blossom buds. Two maids attended her, Miss Jean Izard, chief, and Miss Beatrice Cowper, of Dannevirke. They were dressed alike in dainty velvet frocks of horizon blue, cut on the same lines as the bride's, and finished with a new looped bustle bow. They wore novel headdresses of blue French velvet flowers to tone, and carried rich sheaves of autumn flowers and leaves. The best man was Mr. Douglas Earle and the groomsman was Mr. Jack Marsh. After the ceremony Mrs. Cowper entertained immediate relations and a few old friends at her residence, “Lyncairnc,” which was ablaze with zinnias and hydrangeas. Mrs. Cowper received the guests wearing a model frock of Lido blue maroeain, made with a coat effect and finished with handsome grey squirrel furs, and hat to tone. She carried a bouquet of autumn roses. Mrs. Frank Brettagh, sister of the bride, wore a smart little black crepe de chine frock, patterned in an emerald green design, with glengarry hat of green fur felt. The bride travelled in a nigger brown Harris tweed suit, flecked with scarlet, a brown fur neckpiece, and brown tilted hat. Mr. and Dirs. Sims will reside just out of Wanganui.
