LIBRARY SUBSCRIPTIONS
Petone Shows an Increase .Despite the present period of depression each year shows an increase in the amount received in subscriptions, etc., by the Petone Public Library. The librarian, in the annual report presented to the Petone Borough Council last night, stated that the revenue for the last four years had been £92/16/3, £ll6/16/-, £l3l/9/3, and £l4O/11/-. At the end of March the membership totalled 263 as compared with 250 for the preceding year, an increase of 13. There had been 319 new books added to the.library during the year, and 200 old books had been rebound and placed into circulation. The juvenile section opened with 330 books in August, 1931, 50 books had been added nt a cost of £l3/5/2, nnd children's subscriptions amounted to £4/15/-,
