Y.W.C.A. ACTIVITY
With the object of raising £5OO for the development of Y.W.C.A. work, in Wellington, a meeting of 'business girls was held last week and a campaign committee ..was elected. The committee includes representatives from banking and insurance, manufacturing establishments, and wholesale and retail houses. Many of the members of the committee are not members of the Y.W.C.A., but they are offering their services in appreciation of the organisation’s work for girls and young women. A “popular girl” contest is to be organised among various business houses, and the competition will be launched on April 19 at a business girls’ reception to Miss Marie Bremncr, of the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company. The secretary of the new committee is Miss Helen Batham, and Miss Florence Low has been elected to the chair.
