POLICE FORCE ENTRY

Christchurch, April 11
Barricaded doors and windows in a house at 41 Allen Street, temporarily barred the entry of the police last night to a Chinese opium den. A well-organised raid resulted in four Chinese being arrested. They appeared before the court this morning, and were convicted. Ah Fook. a lauudrynrnn, aged 39, was sentenced to three months' bard labour without the option of a tine for keeping premises where opium was smoked. Charlie Young, a storekeeper, aged .">9, was lined £l9, in default one mouth’s imprisonment. Ah Lee, a gardener, from Ashburton, aged 26, ami Ab Park, a laundryman. were both lined £3. in default fourteen days, for being on the premises.
