40-HOUR WEEK PROTEST

Rotorua. April 11
A meeting of the executive of the Belief Workers’ Association held at Rotorua yesterday passed a resolution calling a general strike of unemployed workers for one hour on Tuesday as a protest against the 40-hour week recently Instituted in the Kotorua district.
Approximately 000 men will be affected, although it is not known whether nil will follow the lead given by the committee.
For a fifth offence of drunkenness. Maurice O'Neill, fireman, aged 112. was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment, by Mr. W. IT. Woodward, S.M., in the Police Court, yesterday.
