Rain in Palmerston North UNUSUALLY HEAVY FALL Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, April 10. Rain of exceptional intensity began to fall in Palmerston North on Friday night, and continued until about 5 p.m. yesterday morning. The fall in the city for 24 hours ending at 9 a.m. yesterday morning was 2 Inches and 35 points, while 2.85 inches of rain was recorded at Tiritea. During the early part of Friday evening there was a light drizzle, but shortly after 11 p.m. heavy rain set in. and continued until early yesterday morning. The fall was one of the heaviest for many years, and will be of tremen: dous value to the district’s pastures. The weather to-day was overcast, and several heavy showers were experienced.
