CHILDREN’S THEATRE
Another Crowded Audience On Saturday afternoon the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall was crowded with children and grown-ups for the second performance of the Children’s Theatre. The three little plays chosen, “A Mldsummer-day Picnic” and “Maniagee and the Bobbers,” and “The Redskin’s Revenge,” proved a tremendous success. This Children’s Theatre movement, with its grown-up actors, is run on exactly the same lines as the End ell Street Theatre in London. There Joan Lux ton is the manager, and Margaret Carter is the secretary. One of the plays presented by the Wellington Children’s Theatre on Saturday, “Mamagee and the Robbers,” was written by Margaret Carter, and produced in London with great success. Incidental music was played throughout the performance by Ormi Reid (piano), Kathleen Goodson (’cello), and Margery Harvey (violin). Alex. Jackson was the accompanist. The excellent lighting effects were carried out by Mr. George Collcdge, and Mr. Robb was in charge of the ushering. A fearsome monster of Burma and the drop-scene were the -work of Miss Yvonne Bendall. The plays were produced by Miss Beryl Earle, and the theatre was directed by Mr. F. H. Dawn. The theatre intends to put on another show very soon. Among the grown-ups present were Mrs. Phillip Cooke, Sirs. J. Darling, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Coliedgc, Mrs. J. Young, Miss Staveley, Miss M. McNair, Mrs, Ewen, Miss E. Millias, Mrs. Miller, Misses Patterson (2), Miss Putnam, Miss Stott, Miss Allan, Mrs. Steel, Mrs. Murray, Mrs. Baldwin, Mrs. W. Fulton, Mrs. M. Grant, Miss J. Halligan, Mrs. Hayes, Miss Anderson, Mrs. A. Griffiths.
