OBITUARY

Rev. J. Ernest Parsons The death occurred in Palmerston North early on Saturday morning, reports a “Dominion” Special Service message from Palmerston North, of the Rev. J. Ernest Parsons, for five years minister at St. Paul’s Alethodist Church, Broadway. The deceased, who was 47 years of age, was born at. Smethwick, Birmingham, and his first circuit was as junior minister at Kuripuni, Alasterton. He went to Taibapo and was ordained as a minister at Lyttelton. Before coming to Palmerston North he ministered at Otahuhu, Deronport, and Alount Eden. Mr. Parsons had been in bad health for some time, and had been appointed to take charge of the Trinity Alethodist Church at Wanganui. He concluded bis ministry at St. Paul’s last week, and was to have left for Wanganui this week-end, but was obliged to enter a private hospital for an operation. Mr. Parsons is survived by a widow and a daughter. A memorial service was conducted in St. Paul’s Church on Sunday night by the Rev. F. Copeland, chairman of the Methodist district. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, following a service at the church. Mr. William Tom The death occurred at Wellington on Saturday of Air. William Tom. formerly of Dalefield, Carterton. The late Air. Tom, wbo was 80 years of age, was an early settler of the Wairarapa, where for many years he farmed at Dalefield. For a number of years he has been living in retirement. He was a member of Court Marquis of Normanby A.0.F., Carterton. His wife predeceased him in 191 S, and a grownup family survives. Mrs. E. Geange The death is reported from Pahiatua of a very old Wairarapa resident, Airs. Emily Geange, at the advanced age of 84 years. Airs. Geange was born in Wellington, and on her marriage to the late Air. William Geange, resided at Palliser Bay for a number of years. Air. and Airs. Geange later removed to Trentham, where Air. Geange’s death occurred. Airs. Geange then removed to Konini, and final’,- to Pahiatua, where she had resided ror the past twenty years. Airs. Geange is survived by a family of three sons, Alessrs. William (Carterton), George (Palmerston North), aud Thomas Geange (Wairoa), and four daughters, Airs. Elizabeth Robinson, and. Alisses Emma, Jessie, and Amelia Geange, all of Pahiatua.
