GILBERT AND SULLIVAN
’Pile return season of the J- C. M illiainson Ltd. Gilbert and Sullivan, which opens on Wednesday evening at the Grand Opera House, promises to even eclipse the wonderfully successful season a few weesk ago. , , "Ruddigore,” which has been chosen for the opening, is not so well known as some of the other operas, but it is, nevertheless, what is described as a winner. It had long seasons on two occasions in London, and. when produced for the first time four years ago iu this eit.v. was well received. ' The music is sonic of the best that. Sullivan ever wrote, and the whole production is of a very high standard. The performance of "Dorothy will be looked forward to b.v lovers of this famous old comic opera, with its lilting music and dashing choruses not to mention the sparkling ensembles. During the season, revivals of “The Gondoliers.” "The Yeoman of the Guard.” “The Jliko<lo.” and "The Pirates of Penzance” will he given.
