NEW MATSON LINER | Mariposa’s Maiden Trip i The new 19,000-ton Matson liner Mariposa is scheduled to leave San Francisco to-day aud Los Angeles to-morrow, on her maiden voyage. The Mariposa is coming via Honolulu, Pago Pago, and Suva, and is due at Auckland on Saturday, February 20. She will leave there again on February 22 for Sydney. The Mariposa will not return by the regular route to Sail Francisco, but will make a cruise in the Pacific, and from Sydney will return to San Francisco via Port Moresby, Thursday Island, Macassar. Batavia, Singapore, Bangkok, Manila, Hongkong, Shanghai, Chinwangtao, Myajima, Kobe, Yokohama, Honolulu, and Hilo, arriving at San Francisco on April 23. The Mariposa carries only two classes of passengers, first class and cabin class, and on her trials averaged 23 knots. Her sister ship, the Monterey, is at present under construction, and is expected to enter the service later this year. MAKURA- LEAVES RAROTONGA. Cabled advice has been received by the Union Company that the R.M.S. Makura, from Sydney and Wellington, left Rarotonga at 11.30 p.m. on Saturday for Papeete and San Francisco, where she is due on February 12. THE ANTINOUS. G. H. Scales, Ltd., advise that the steamer Alitinous is to leave Auckland to-day for Wellington, and is due here on Thursdfiy, to discharge asphalt from Tampico for the Shell Oil Company. She will later proceed to Lyttelton, Wanganui, and New Plymouth, to complete discharge. THE MLBOURNE MARU. The O.S.K. Line motor-ship Melbourne Maru was scheduled to leave Moji yesterday for Hong-Kong, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Wellington and Auckland, and is due here about March 1 The Federal Company are the local agents. HUNTINGDON LOADING. In ballast from Falmouth the Federal steamer Huntingdon reached Auckland late on Sunday night to commence her Homeward loading to the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company. She is to leave Auckland again to-morrow, morning for Gisborne, Napier, Wanganui, Wellington and Napier to complete. The vessel is due here on February 18, and is scheduled to clear Napier finally on March 1 for London, via the Panama Canal. THE OTAIO. Running to the agency of the Federal Company the New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor-ship Otaio is to leave Auckland to-day for Wellington to continue discharge of her cargo from Glasgow and Liverpool.
