To-day’s full release of the State Savings Bank depositors’ money, aggregating £50,000,000, has revealed that the lack of faith in this institution under the New South Wales Government's control had completely vanished. There was no rush of depositors to withdraw their money, and a big staff of paying tellers waited a quarter of an hour after the opening of the Commonwealth Bank before a solitary depositor of the defunct State Bank presented a withdrawal slip. The Commonwealth Bank authorities are delighted with the turn affairs have taken. Mr. E. C. Riddle,- Governor of the bank, said: “It is quite apparent that the' people trust us as we trust them. A statement issued by the Commonwealth Statistician is to the effect that the-returns from trade unions confirmed the conclusion that unemployment had passed the peak and was mending slowly.
