Heavy sentences have been passed on leaders of the Opposition, arrested at the general election of 1930,. for plotting against the Pilsudski regime. Vincent Witos, the Populist leader, thrice Premier of Poland, received eighteen months’ imprisonment; Hermann Liebermann, Socialist leader, two and a half years; while five others received sentences ranging from two to three years.
