GARDEN HOSES
Trouble for Vegetable-growers A difficulty which might be met in carrying out the home gardening suggestions of the deputy-chairman of the Unemployment Board, Mr. J. S. Jessep, was mentioned on Saturday by a worker. In an appeal published in ‘The Dominion” on Saturday Mr. Jessep urged relief workers and all sections of the community to cultivate vegetable plots. A relief worker stated that successful gardening would be difficult if the restrictions on the use of garden hoses continued. Hoses could only be used if a water meter was Installed, and meter equipment in the city and suburbs cost about £4/15/-. The relief worker said he could not pay for u meter even if given the benefits of time payment. .
