HOSPITAL ESCAPEE
Broken Out Into Crime SERIES OF CHARGES By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, December 14. On five charges, Including burglaries and escaping from custody, Roy George Cudby was sentenced by Mr. Justice Smith to-day. His counsel said he had been in hospital for eye trouble, but by escaping he had deprived himself of the necessary treatment, and in consequence had lost the sight of his left eye. Since his escape he bad been married. The judge said that if the prisoner after his marriage had intended to live honestly he would not have broken out irto a burst of crime. His Honour sentenced Cudby to three years’ hard labour, cumulative on the present sentence.
