BRAVE BRIDE-TO-BE

Lover in Hospital WATCHING BY BEDSIDE A brave bride-to-be was recently holding an almost ceaseless vigil at the bedside in a Liverpool hospital of her lover, who was lying paralysed after an accident on the liner which was bringing him home for his wedding. All through the day she sat at the bedside cheering her fiance and comforting him in his misfortune. The girl is Miss Madge Cheetham, of Parwick Bay, Isle of Man. All preparations for her marriage to Mr. SB. Yates, who is a trader on the West African coast, had been made, and Mr. Yates had obtained special leave for the ceremony. But when the liner Apapa, in which he was travelling home to Manchester, reached Liverpool. Mr. Yates was carried ashore on a stretcher, paralysed completely as a result of a peculiar accident at sea. Mr. Yates was diving into a canvas bath on deck when the liner gave a sudden lurch, causing him to strike his head a severe blow in shallow water. Fellow passengers hauled him out unconscious. On reaching Liverpool he whs conveyed to hospital. “Of course all our plans have been rudely upset.” Miss Cheetham remarked, "but he will make a wonderful recovery and then we can make our plans again.”
