ACCIDENT IN QUARRY
Fall Buries Worker BAD INJURIES RECEIVED By Telegraph—Press Association. Stratford, September 4. R. E. Plews, county foreman, was seriously injured while working, in a quarry on Manaia road yesterday. His left foot was crushed, his pelvis fractured, and internal injuries inflicted. An operation was performed, but the patient’s condition is still serious. Mr. Plews was preparing to put m a blasting shot, when the sandstone face of the quarry came down, overwhelming him. Some of the boulders were 2ft. 6in. in diameter, and the workmen had much difficulty in extricating him.
