Investiture Ceremony at Government House RECEPTION FOLLOWS The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, held an Investiture at Government House, Wellington, at 8.30 p.m. last evening, at which his Excellency presented to Mr. R. A, Anderson, of Invercargill, and to Mr. G. A. Troup, formerly Mayor of Wellington, the Insignia of Companions of the Order of St. Michael and St. George. His Excellency also presented to Mr. William Waddel, lately Superintendent of the State Advances Department, Wellington, the Insignia of a Commander of the Civil Division of the Order of the British Empire. The investiture was followed by a reception, at which a large number of guests was received by their Excellencies. BRILLIANT FUNCTION Government House Ceremony FRAGRANT FLOWERS A colourful and brilliant spectacle marked the investiture and reception at Government House last evening. The ballroom was beautifully decorated with massed corner pots of cineraria, cyclamen, and tiny golden broom. Chairs were arranged half-way up the ballroom for the guests. In the drawing-room were large bowls of mixed spring flowers, rich in perfume and delicately blended. The supper rooms, where a delectable supper was served, had huge, glowing jars of yellow daffodils, noticeable for their immense size and purity. To the strains of the National Anthem their Excellencies, accompanied by Sir John Hanham, Bart., A.D.C., Mr. Cecil Day (official secretary), Lieut. John Elworthy, R.N.; A.D.C., General Sinclair Burgess, C. 8., C.M.G., D. 5.0., Colonel W. H. Cunningham, D. 5.0., A.D.C., and Captain Fraser, D. 5.0., R.N., entered the ballroom. ' . , Their honours were then conferred npon Mr. R. A. Anderson (Invercargill), Commander of St. Michael and St. George; Mr. G. A. Troup, Commander of St, Michael and St. George; and Mr. W. Waddell, Commander of the British Empire. . „ , After the investiture all the guests were presented to their Excellencies. His Excellency looked an imposing and striking figure in his Privy Council uniform with the blue mantle of the Order of St. Michael ahd St. George. Her Excellency tjie Lady Bledisloe, always a radiant personality, wore an exquisite gown of ivory chiffon velvet, the bodice being patterned at the hip-line in a cut leaf design, from which cascaded a billowing skirt of silk net. A diamond tiara and an emerald pendant were her jewels, and she carried a large white ostrich fan. . Lady Norah Jellicoe wore a dainty patterned, velvet frock in pale turquoise, the flower pattern being in shades of pink and blue; with it was worn a heavy crystal and diamante necklace. ■ Mrs. Cecil Day wore a graceful frock of black touched with silver.

Among the relatives of the gentlemen receiving the honours were Mrs. G. A. Troup, who wore a frock of black lac° and white fox fur; Mrs. S. Weir, soft blue and lemon ninon floral frock; Miss Troup, apricot lace frock; and Miss E. Troup, palest pink marquesette frock. Mrs. Anderson, black lace frock; Mias Anderson, deep azure blue net frock; Mrs. Waddell, black lace gown; Mrs. Martin, black chiffon velvet frock made with a long train; and Mrs. Tucker, white satin frock touched with blue.

A small'orchestra played excellent musio during the evening.
