HOMESTEAD DESTROYED
Fire at Oroua Downs Dominion Special Service. Foxton, September 8. An old homestead at Oroua Downs was totally destroyed by fire shortly after 10 o’clock last evenin';. The dwelling was owned and occupied by Mr. J. J. Robertson. Mrs. Robertson and child were away at Auckland at the time of the outbreak, and Mr. Robertson was spending the evening with neighbours. About 10 o’clock it was noticed that the house was on fire, but it was then too late to save anything except a separator in an adjoining shed. Mr. and Mrs. Robertson lost all their wedding presents. The house was the old homestead on the Oroua Downs estate which w,as cut up for soldier settlements. There was £B5O insurance on the building and £l5O on contents in the State Fire Office.
