MINIATURE RIFLES
An invitation was accepted by the mayor (Mr. D. McKenzie) and councillors to visit the Petone Central Miniature Rifle Club and engage in a shoot against members of the club. The council won by 70S points to 706. Councillor Scholefield put on 6S points, Councillor E. Hogg 66, the town clerk, Mr. W. F. Sturman, 66. Others to shoot were the mayor, Mr. D. McKenzie, and Councillors Toomath, Ryder, Noble, Longman, Brockelbank, Jacobson, and Burns, Mr. J. Kerr, and t the borough engineer, Mr. Jackson. The highest scorers for the club were: N. McDonald 68 and J. Finlay, sen., 65. The club president, Mr. A. E. Ffrost, congratulated the councillors on their win. He thanked, the councillors also for the consideration they had at all times shown to the club. The mayor replied on behalf of the council. It is the intention to make the shoot between club and council an annual affair.
