THE RAJAH'S BODYGUARD. A well-known linn of brass band instrument makers in the north of England were once astonished to receive an order from their Bombay correspondent for 24 tenor trombones. Completely surprised bv the unusual number, a cablegram was dispatched asking for confirmation. In due course it came, and the consignment was sent to India. A rajah, during a visit to England, nad been immensely impressed by the appearance of the trombone players and their instruments at the Queen's Hall, and determined to form a private orchestra of trombones for his own edification, not to says glorification. The actual music was of no account, although, as a matter of fact, the trombonists did learn a simple tune. It .was the effect of his strange bodyguard and their still stranger instruments that fascinated the Eastern potentate.
